I have used that before
I have used that one before to someone who claimed to be a 3rd level of a specific tradition and as an Eclectic, I knew more about their tradition then they did and I had the referances to back it up.

They exist for our amusement....and you can usually tell when you're being bullsh!tted...everything they say makes less or no sense and they start to smell bad!

These people don't even seem to be limited to religion.
I've met all manner of pretentious people that don't even know the basics of what they need to know...

limits on stupidity
Well, being that there are no limits that I know of on stupidity or ignorance, there may be no hope for any of us. Fortunately, Nature tends to weed out the weaker links of any species, so all we have to do is wait. Eventually, they'll all either die off and we'll be left to rule the world!! Ah ha ha haaaa!!!!!

Die off
The weak and stupid did die off, but, at least as far as humans go, we've gone out of our way to keep them alive. And if they stay alive, they breed. And they usually insist on trying to raise their own kids. This results in more stupidity.
I can understand wanting to help those who were born or became disabled, but if they're just plain stupid I often find myself wishing they would be killed.
If you don't think I'm crazy, you either don't know me very well or you're my therapist.
There are limits on stupidity
There are definitely limits on stupidity within every nationality of the world.
For the americans, the limit falls somewhere around voting Republican ;-P

we keep making it harder for them to die off... think on these laws: dwi, seatbelt, or my fave just plain suicide... did you know in some places you can actually get in legal trouble for trying to kill YOURSELF? sad but true. and thats just a few.

Um, DWI is a problem because those stupid people more often kill other people, not themselves. I agree about the suicide thing. There is something seriously wrong with a society when they have to actively prevent their citizens from killing themselves.

Don't Worry...
I don't know the name or really understand, either, but I do get that our resident ceremonial magician doesn't understand something he SHOULD.....kind of like a Wiccan not knowing the name Silver Ravenwolf (Love her or hate her, she's EVERYWHERE. And I didn't say you had to have READ her work...) or a Christian not knowing the name Abraham (Whether or not they know who he IS, they know the name.)

...I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping to see the continuation of yesterday's "invoke-off." It's been a while since we had an extended arc.
Today's strip loses a little impact because we've all known for some time that Markus isn't nearly as competent as he pretends to be.
The question is, does that make Markus more or less dangerous?

I've met far too many of these types in my life. Not to say you have to read every single book on the subject out there, but if you're going to follow a specific path, you should know the big names even if you haven't read them all. :P
