I can actually relate to how Stan feels. Like I don't find it as insulting but its kind of annoying when people always think that Wicca=Paganism. My boyfriend called me his "Wiccan Princess" and I'm like: Technically I'm Pagan..not Wiccan

I'm wiccan and I believe that being called "wiccan" if you're not could be disturbing (maybe you're pagan, maybe you're some kind of witch, maybe you're a striga and you'll kill the fool that called you "wiccan"). It's the same for me, I don't like when a pagan is called a wiccan, because it means peolpe show no respect on his/her choice, or it means people are just ignorant. (Un)luckily here in Italy we rarely have to deal with it, 'cause people just call us "satanist".

While the mythology used in Asatru is *much* older than Wicca, the modern pagan religion Asatru was invented by people who'd previously been involved in various forms of Wicca in the US.

I'm pretty sure that wasn't making fun of Wiccans. It was making fun of people who thinks EVERY polytheist in the world is Wiccan.

I just think that Wiccans had it pretty bad for a while, or all witches for that matter, so now when people start recognizing it as okay, we all should be happy. Yes you are not Wiccan, you're Pagan, but rude and ignorant people won't see the difference, they're just going to stay rude and ignorant.
Same thing as calling all Asians - Chinese. They're not, but do these people care? NO.

I'm really tired of seeing posts with people belly aching about someone mistaking their religion. Come on guys, how fair is it to assume someone can tell what you believe just by looking at you? What are they supposed to do? Sniff you? Yep you smell pagan to me. That's as ridiculous as saying that guy is Jewish because he has a big nose and he's an accountant, or she must be a baptist because she's black, or wow you have a billion kids, are you Catholic? Just try to have a little patience, not everyone even knows the difference between pagans and wiccians, after all, it isn't as if they're exposed to those kinds of traditions.
